Jerome Wallace Lande

Jerome W. Lande, 85, of Mayville, ND, died on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. He was born March 13, 1930 on the family farm in Lindaas Township northeast of Mayville to Ole and Anne (Strand) Lande. He attended Lindaas School and Mayville High School. He married Marilyn Anderson on December 1, 1950. Jerome and Marilyn started their life together on the family farm raising their children: Mark and Debi. The couple farmed from 1950 to 1989 prior to retiring and spending many memorable winters in Mesa, Arizona and enjoying the many new friends they made among their “snowbird” friends on B Street at The Resort. Jerome and Marilyn moved from the farm into Mayville three years ago and enjoyed their time living in town after a lifetime of farm living. Jerome’s farm equipment was well maintained and kept in top shape through the various “handyman” skills he learned farming. He also shared those skills with family and neighborhood friends by helping them on their “fix-it” problems. Jerome’s nickname was the “Handy Man.” Jerome’s pastimes included mowing the lawn at his farm, restoring his Farmall tractors and working in his shop. Jerome especially enjoyed the energy and excitement brought by his many visits from his great grandchildren: Harley Jerome and Gemma Ludwig. He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Marilyn of Mayville; son: Mark and wife Kathy of Fargo along with their children: Robin, Tim (Shereen), Amy (David), Ann (Nate) and Michelle (Mike); daughter: Debi Ludwig and her husband Dean of West Fargo along with their sons: Kenny and Kirk (Stacy); seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Jerome is also survived by his brothers: Lowell (Donna) and Jim (Linda). Jerome’s brothers: Earling, Bill, Orville and sisters: Adeline and Dolores preceded him in death. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 PM with a 6:30 PM Public Prayer Service on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery in Mayville, ND.
