Evelyn Claudine Flaten

Evelyn Flaten, 92, of Mayville, ND, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville. Evelyn Claudine Hagen was born August 16, 1916, near Portland, where she grew up and attended school. She was married to Melvin Flaten on August 9, 1935, in Portland, N.D. They lived near Portland for a short time and then farmed near Clifford, N.D., until retiring in 1981, when they moved to Portland. Evelyn was actively involved in her church, Bang Lutheran, and in her community until recent years. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and by many friends whom she enjoyed spending time with. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin; and two sisters, Luella Hefta, and Ruth Peterson. Funeral Service: Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 1:00PM at Bang Lutheran Church, rural Portland, ND. Visitation: Friday, April 10, 2009 from 4-6 PM (please note time change) with a prayer service at 4:30 PM at Luther Memorial Home Chapel, Mayville, and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church.
