Mabel O. Rindy, 92, of Portland, ND, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND. Mabel Olive Corrine Kjensrud was born August 12, 1916 to T.E. and Clara (Amundson) Kjensrud in Portland, ND. She attended Bruflat Academy and graduated from Portland High School in 1935. Mabel was united in marriage to Raymond A. Power on March 13, 1943 in Vancouver, WA. They returned to Portland shortly after their marriage and lived there until Ray’s death in 1961. After Ray’s death, Mabel worked part-time at Carlson Foods, Luther Memorial Home and for many years, Mayville Pharmacy. In 1981 she married Howard Rindy. They resided on Howard’s Farm west of Portland until ill health forced them to retire to apartments in Portland and Mayville. Mabel had been a resident of Luther Memorial Home since September. Mabel was a long-time active member of the Circle’s and Ladies Aid organizations of Bruflat Lutheran Church. Mabel is survived by her sons, James (Carol Stevens) Power of Fargo, ND, John (Jill) Power of Bismarck, ND; stepchildren Kathy (Thor) Bussinger of Bothell, WA, Connie (Rod) Thompson of Maple Valley, WA, and Keith Rindy of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Judy Oien. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Raymond Power and Howard Rindy, and her brother, Ellert Kjensrud. Memorials are preferred to the Portland Angel Coalition, Lutheran World Relief or charity of donor’s choice. Funeral Service: Funeral Service: Postponed from Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 AM at Bruflat Lutheran Church, Portland till Monday, March 30 at 10 AM at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland. Visitation: Friday, March 27 from 5-7 PM with a 6:30 PM Public Prayer Service at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
