Cody Daniel Ulland, 25, of Mayville, ND, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND, surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends. Cody was born January 19, 1984, in Mayville, the second son of Steve and Yvonne Ulland. Cody grew up in Mayville and graduated with the class of 2002 from May-Port CG High School. Cody enjoyed being active, both in and outdoors. His pastimes included skiing, reading, videogames and hunting. He was known for his precise marksmanship, and ability that came naturally to him. Currently he was a student at Northland Technical College in East Grand Forks, MN, working on a major in Computer Networking. During Cody’s brief life he earnestly sought his own path. The way was not completely clear or easy for him, as directions changed, confusion infringed and priorities split, which, at times, caused clarity and confusion to exchange identities. Yet he strived to please, he always cared for family, and never lost his gentleness and kindness. He was an incredibly loyal and fierce friend. In keeping with Cody’s loving spirit, it was his decision to perpetuate life through organ donation so that others may live. In times of trouble he always said that the best thing to do was to “keep on keeping on.” Now God has cleared his path and offered him comfortable rest, unencumbered by turmoil and stress. He is already dearly missed. Cody is survived by his mother, Yvonne and father, Steve both of Mayville; a brother, Casey of Duluth, MN, his grandparents, Harriet and Myron Ulland of Mayville, grandmother, Ruth Goranson of Devils Lake, ND, and his devoted girlfriend, Rachel Dakken of Mayville, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, the Circle of Friends Humane Society of Grand Forks, ND, or Life Source Wells Fargo Center 21 First St. SW, Suite #310, Rochester, MN 55902-3007. Visitation: Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, ND, and one hour before the funeral at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND.
