Nancy Jallo, 59, passed away at her home rural Portland, ND, Saturday October 10, 2015 in the presence of her loved ones. Nancy Kay Hagness was born November 18, 1955 in Park River ND to Harold and Esther (Gilbertson) Hagness. Nancy graduated from Fordville High School in 1974 and graduated from Mayville State University in 1978 with a degree in English, speech and drama education. While at Mayville, Nancy married Don Jallo, her high school sweetheart from Fordville on October 2, 1976. Nancy began teaching high school English and directing musicals in 1978 at Clifford-Galesburg ND high school until the school closed in 1993. During her teaching at CGHS, a son, Travis Harold was born. For the next five years, she worked at Mayville’s floral shop, Countryside Creations. She also worked at Flaten and Johnson Truck Equipment in Mayville. She began teaching at May-Port CG in 1998 until January 2015, when illness forced her to leave her beloved students. Nancy is survived by her husband Don, her son Travis, her in-laws, Harold and Carol Jallo, her sister Mary Sue Haugen (Larry), Bottineau, her brother Gary Hagness, Fordville, her brother Paul Hagness, Pembina, her step-brothers Harlan Gullingsrud, Denver CO and Terry Gullingsrud, Fordville, sister-in-law Denise (Brad) Becker, Inkster and brother-in-law Darrell (Deb) Jallo, Fordville. Her nieces and nephews include Natalie Olson, Kristin Peterson, John Haugen, Michelle Boroski, Jane Guldseth, Luke Hagness, Katherine Olson, Cassandra Broadwater, Marcus Hagness, Jamie Burken, Jessica Kelly, Jason Jallo, Kacie Becker, Kyle Becker and Kayla Becker along with 19 great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Ella Hagness, her brother Mark Hagness and step-brother Gary Gullingsrud. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be at 3 PM Wednesday at the Quale Cemetery, Fordville, ND.
