Harvey Myron Erickson

Harvey M. Erickson, 86, of Galesburg, ND, was called home to heaven on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Union Hospital in Mayville, ND. Harvey Myron Erickson was born on August 15, 1922 in Galesburg to Halfdan (Tony) and Anne (Larson) Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Stordahl Lutheran Free Church in Galesburg. He grew up and attended school in Galesburg. He purchased land and began farming. On June 12, 1948, he married Eleanor Thoreson of Mayville, ND and farmed near Galesburg until they retired in 1987. They continued to be actively involved in the farming operation with their sons for many years. Harvey was a member of Stordahl Lutheran Free Church and Faith Lutheran Church of Galesburg where he served as an Elder, secretary of the congregation, and Sunday School superintendent. Currently, he was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Mayville where he served as a church auditor. He belonged to Gideons International and it gave him great joy to distribute Bibles. He was active in organizations including the Traill County Farm Bureau, 20th District Republicans, the Galesburg Improvement Association, the Galesburg School Board, and the Farm Credit Services Board (1957-1987). Harvey and his wife, Eleanor, spent many enjoyable winters in Mesa, AZ. He especially liked spending time with his family and friends. Hobbies included restoring antique cars and trucks. Harvey is survived by his wife, Eleanor, of 60 years; his children, Ranae (Larry) Womack of Bemidji, MN, Harlyn (Laurel) Erickson of Galesburg, Wesley (Terry) Erickson of Hunter, ND, and Linette Erickson of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Marilee (Josh) Mann of Rocklin, CA, Valerie Erickson of Grand Forks, ND, Heath (Traci) Erickson of Fargo, ND, Seth, Marshall, Hope and Wyatt Erickson of Hunter, ND, Brent Bohan of South Royalton, VT, Erica Bohan of Minneapolis, MN, Kristofer Womack of Ashland, OR and Kate Womack of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Adele Halvorson of Galesburg and Hazel Berg of Rock Rapids, IA; and one brother, Lloyd (Audrey) Erickson of Mayville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Inez Rud, grandson, Harvest Erickson, and brothers-in-law, Orville Halvorson and Harlan Berg. Memorials preferred to Gideons International, Luther Memorial Home of Mayville, ND, or as desired. Visitation: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Baker Funeral Home in Mayville, and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 2:00PM at Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church in Mayville. Burial: Stordahl Cemetery, in the spring.
