Arlene Skar

Arlene Mae Skar, 88, of Mayville ND, passed away Thursday September 17, 2015 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Arlene was born May 18, 1927 to Palmer and Ovedia (Tron) Stoe at Penn, ND. She attended country school and Penn public school. After graduation she worked at Great Northern Railroad as a telegraph operator. While working for the railroad, she met and fell in love with Orville Skar, they were married October 24, 1947 in Devils Lake ND. Orville and Arlene lived in many different communities including Larimore, Williston, Binford, Great Falls, MT and Mayville. She was a member of Mayville Lutheran Church, and active member of the WELCA, American Legion Auxiliary and TOPS. Arlene enjoyed flowers, feeding the birds and working in the garden. She liked to be outdoors and was always fond of cats. Arlene is survived by one niece; one nephew; and one brother-in-law: Millard Skar. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years: Orville; parents; sister: Joyce Baarstad; two nephews and a brother-in-law: David Baarstad. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at 2:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Devils Lake City Cemetery in Devils Lake, ND.
