Howard T. Rindy

Howard Rindy, 88, of Mayville, ND, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Howard was born the son of William & Anna Rindy of rural Portland, ND. He graduated from Portland High School in 1941 and in 1942 moved to Burbank, CA where he was employed by Lockheed. He married Phyllis Hallingstad in August of 1942 in Glendale, CA. In 1944 they purchased their home farm and moved back to Portland, ND. Phyllis died in 1965. Howard married Mabel (Kjensrud) Power in 1981 in Bruflat Church, Portland, where they continued to farm until they retired. They lived in apartments in the Portland-Mayville area from 2005 until the time of his death. Howard is survived by wife Mabel and his children: Kathy & Thor Bussinger of Bothell, WA; Connie & Rod Thompson of Maple Valley, WA; Keith Rindy of Portland, ND; Jim & Carol Power, Fargo; and John & Jill Power of Bismarck, ND. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kent & Amy Thompson, Zach Thompson, and Michael, Meredith, David, Matthew, Erin & Megan Power. Howard is also survived by his brother Walter (Vi) Rindy, and his sisters-in-law Marie Rindy, Jeanette Evanson, and Gloria (Sherman) Thykeson. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, brother Bennett, and sister Lila Braton. Visitation: Friday February, 20th from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Luther Memorial Home Chapel, Mayville, and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral Service: Saturday February, 21 at 1:00 PM at Perry Lutheran Church, rural Portland. Burial: Perry Lutheran Church Cemetery.
