Wanita Kroeplin, 96, of Mayville, ND, died Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Luther Memorial Home. Wanita Ruth Ramey Touslee Kroeplin was born May 20, 1919 in Crab Orchard, NE to Leola Ruth Hutchison and Nyle Dewey Ramey. She went into the arms of Jesus on August 20, 2015, at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND, where she received loving care from the nurses and other staff, hospice and family. Wanita, the oldest of four children, lived in a sod house near Colby, KS, having many responsibilities caring for her younger siblings. She was only able to attend high school by working in various homes for her room and board. After graduating from Colby Community High School, she worked in her first job as a telephone operator in Levant, KS. Later, at the age of 50 she returned to school and received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and worked as a nurse until her retirement. This took a lot of determination and courage and demonstrates strength of character that has always been admired and continues to be an inspiration to her family and friends. Wanita and M.A. (Sport) Touslee were married May 14, 1939, making their home in several towns in Kansas. After retirement they sold their home and lived in a travel trailer spending winters in Texas and summers in Kansas until Sport died in 1999. On October 15, 2000, she married Edwin Kroeplin and they spent their time between Donna, TX and Finley, ND. They eventually moved into an independent living apartment and then a full time nursing facility in Mayville, ND. Wanita loved music! She was from a musical family and grew up singing solos in school and church programs and playing the piano and organ. The old record player was always spinning at home and she could often be found at the piano with her children at her elbow singing from sheet music as she accompanied. She and Sport enjoyed attending dances over the years, an activity which she and Ed enthusiastically continued. She is survived by her husband Edwin; children: Karen (Billy) Krien, Jim (Loretta) Touslee, Sue Ella Touslee; step children: Ken (Sharon) Kroeplin, Marlin (Debbie) Kroeplin, Royce (Diane) Kroeplin, Kevin Kroeplin, Donna Kroeplin, Susan(Keith)Flaten, Delores (Mike) Kvislen; brother Duane(Doris) Brown; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many other step grandchildren.
