Susan Marie Kale

Susan (Berg) Kale, age 56, of Rapid City, SD entered into the presence of her Savior August 13, 2015 at the home of Karen (Daryl) Johnson, with the assistance of Hospice care and surrounded by her loving family. Susan was a woman of great faith, compassion, humor and service. Susan (Berg) Kale was born June 27, 1959 to Richard and Doris (Skogen) Berg and lived on a farm north of Hillsboro. Susan attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, ND and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1977. Susan was united in marriage to Rory Kale on June 28, 1980. Rory and Susan lived in Crookston and later farmed in rural Hillsboro. The couple has two children, Matthew and Sarah Kale of Fargo, ND. Susan's education included a degree in medical secretarial science, a BBA in social work and a Master's Degree from UND in social work. Jobs included a clinic in Crookston as a medical secretary, secretary at the Hillsboro Abstract Office, medical secretary at Morlock Chiropractic in Moorhead, MN, social work for Path Inc. in Devils Lake, ND and social work for the Veteran's Administration in Hot Springs and then Sturgis, SD. She loved all of her jobs, but especially enjoyed working with veterans and veteran's family counseling. She will be dearly missed by all her co-workers and clients. Susan loved and served her Lord wherever she went. She was a member of Destiny Four Square Church in Rapid City, SD. She formed many treasured friendships there. Susan was a member of the worship team and volunteered for many programs, one of which was the women's prison ministry. A very special memory from that Church, was a trip to Israel visiting all the historical and sacred sites and then being baptized in the Jordan River, Susan was a shining beacon of light and compassion to anyone she knew and especially to her family. Susan's hobbies included travelling, singing, playing games, visiting and motorcycle riding, especially around the Black Hills, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. She is survived by her children: Matthew and Sarah Kale; Rory Kale of Hillsboro, ND; her mother: Doris Berg, Hillsboro, ND; sister: Karen (Daryl) Johnson, Mayville, ND; brothers: James Berg and Joy Humphry, Orlando, FL, Jon (Margo) Berg, East Grand Forks, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Susan is preceded in death by her father, Richard Berg in 1977; a dear aunt, Laverne Skogen in 2002 and a second cousin, Duane and Dorothy Skogen. God bless the memory of Susan (Berg) Kale. Missing you, until we meet again. The family welcomes memorials to Hospice of the Red River Valley, which was so essential to her loving care. God bless all you earthly angels. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2015 with a 6:30 PM public prayer service at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro, ND.
