Marlowe Merle Workin, 86, of Northwood, formerly of Galesburg, ND died on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center. He was born June 17, 1929 in Galesburg ND, to Ben and Alma ( Olstad) Workin. He married Avis Idele Gisvold on May 2, 1953. They were married 50 years with Avis passing away shortly after their golden wedding anniversary. To this union two sons were born, Mike (Judy Erickson) and Jeff (Cathy Martin). Marlowe farmed his whole life, he loved the land and all animals. After retiring from his family farm, Marlowe worked several more years tilling the soil and caring for animals. The last years of work were on the Walter Richtsmeier farm where they treated him like family and he enjoyed every day of work. Marlowe drove the school bus for 25 years. Avis worked several years at the West Traill Cafe where Marlowe could be found helping and visiting with everyone. The Twins were a favorite pastime as well as watching his grandchildren in their various activities. When Marlowe entered long term care he found a passion for bingo. The family would like to thank the staff at Northwood Deaconess for their care of Marlowe. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Avis and 1 brother Arland. Marlowe is survived by his 2 sons: Mike (Judy) Workin of Galesburg and Jeff (Cathy) Workin of Hatton; 6 grandchildren: Daniel Workin and Heidi Uecker, Brittani (Dale Flaten) Workin, Scott (Crystal Olson) Workin, JoAnna (Dustin) Strand, Andrew Workin and Landon Workin; 4 great grandchildren: Ella, Carter, Layken and Grayson; 4 sisters: a twin sister Madelyn Ulland, Arlene Klug, Francis (Bernie) Kyllo and Carol Baker; 3 brothers: Richard (Bunny) Workin, Raydon (Betty) Workin and David (Judi) Workin; 1 sister-in-law: Marlys Workin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Elm River Lutheran Church in Galesburg. Memorial Service: 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Elm River Lutheran Church in Galesburg, ND. Burial: Will be at the Galesburg Cemetery, Galesburg, ND.
