Deborah Cheryl Kyllo

Deb Kyllo died July 10th after being diagnosed with lung cancer in October. Deborah (Deb) Cheryl Kyllo, was born on April 2, 1953 to Merl and Geneva (Domier) Kyllo in Mayville, North Dakota. She attended school in Clifford-Galesburg, graduating high school and going on to attend North Dakota State University, where she received her B.S. degree in Child Development & Family Relations. She continued her higher education by graduating from Mayville State University with a B.S. degree in Business Management. Over the years she has worked as a teacher aide at C-G Elementary, bookkeeper at the Galesburg Implement, Office Manager/Agent at MayPort Insurance, and as the owner of her own insurance agency, Viking Insurance. She was most recently employed as an apartment rental manager. She gave much to her community in time and talent. She served as President of Clifford’s Bicentennial and Centennial celebrations, All-School Reunion Chairman, MayPort Beautification Committee, Eagles Club President, MayPort Community Club President, Portland Commercial Club, Member and Training Officer of the West Traill Ambulance as well as an EMT. Most recently, she was Secretary on the Board of the Traill County EDC. In 1980, she was awarded Who’s Who Woman of the Year. She was received the ND Volunteer Award from Governor Art Link in 1981. Deb loved all things music. She was a member of the Portland Parish Lutheran Choir and the Clifford-Galesburg Cantata. She was a gifted organist/pianist, having played for numerous weddings and funerals. She continued to play organ and piano even after suffering from a stroke at the age of forty-one. She was a piano teacher for many years. She loved gardening, landscaping, crafts, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, home decorating and antiques. She took tremendous pride in her many flower gardens. Deb was always our “go to” person. If you wanted something done, give the job to Deb. If she didn’t know the answer, she would find it for you. She would do anything possible to help you and not think twice about it. She overcame some tough obstacles in her life but did not let them drag her down. Deb is survived by her parents, B. Michael and Geneva Knudson of Mayville, ND; brothers, Randy (Deb) Kyllo of Clifford, ND and their sons Shane (Deanna), Chad, Blake; Shawn (Kathy) Knudson of Clifford, ND and their sons Matthew (Brandi), Nicholas, and Ryan (Brittany), Chase; sisters, Robin (Rick) Jack of West Fargo, ND and their children Trisha Coleman, Scott (Jessica) Coleman, Jamie Jack and Shelley (Paul) Wittrock; Cherry (Jay) Larson of St. Michael, MN and their children Nathan, Dana (Heather) and Caitlyn; two grand-nieces, two grand-nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by her special angels: Andrea Brend, Terry Klabo, Lona Olson, Deb Sletten and Melissa Beach. She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Monday, July 13, 2015 at Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be at the Stordahl Cemetery, Galesburg, ND.
