Gerald Pietron, 91 formerly of Larimore, ND passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND surrounded by family. Jerry lived a full life. Gerald Matthew Pietron was born February 17, 1924 to Theodore (Ted) and Margaret (Shide) Pietron in Larimore, ND. Jerry grew up in the Larimore area and attended school in Larimore. He served in the army during the Korean Conflict. He married Opal Harpster on May 5, 1950 at St. Stephens Church in Larimore. They raised five children on their rural Larimore farm and actively farmed until he retired in 1986. After retirement he spent his winters in Mesa, AZ and returned to the farm during the summer months, where he loved to garden and watch the crops grow. He moved to Mayville, ND in 2013 and lived at Luther Memorial Home until his death. He is survived by his wife: Opal, of 64 years; four children: Lee Ann (Jeff) Strand of Portland, ND, Joan Carlisle of Fargo, ND, Claudia (Steve) Cederstrom of Willmar, MN and Ted (Sarah) Pietron of Wahpeton ND; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a sister: Mary Ann (James) Whitmer of Fresno, CA. He was preceded in death by his eldest son: Thomas in 2005; 2 sisters: Arlene Gratton and his twin sister, Geraldine Miller; and 3 brothers: Arnold, Robert, and Leo. Visitation: Will be 4 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel, in Mayville, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.. Funeral Service: 10:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2015 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Larimore, ND. Burial: Will be at the Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.
