Gerald Ray Munter

Gerald “Jerry” Ray Munter, 73, of Portland, ND died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at his home. Gerald was born on December 12, 1941 at Cummings, ND the son of George and Clara (Aure) Munter. Jerry grew up in Cummings and later, Finley, ND. On June 6, 1964 he married Sharon Moen. The couple made their home in Mayville, ND. Jerry worked for the city of Mayville and Kelley Bean Company since 1974. He retired as an assistant manager of milling ten years ago. The couple moved into Portland in 2012. Jerry was a quiet, gentle man who listened more than he spoke. His hobby was work. Jerry enjoyed working on cars, mowing Veteran’s Park and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Sharon of Portland, ND; three children: Cindy of Mayville, ND, Kevin (Lita) of Galena, AK and Jamie (Perlita) of Zimmerman, MN; three grandchildren: Andrew, Arron and Shantel; and eight brothers and sisters: Gillette (Diane) of Hillsboro, ND, Arlin (Kaye) of Moorhead, MN, Gene of Tacoma, WA, Roger (Sharon) of Zimmerman, MN, Everett (Alice) of Elk River, MN, Ron (Ilene) of Fargo, ND, Linda (Rick) of Grand Forks, ND and Evelyn McNamera of Burnsville, MN. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Eva and Vera; and three brothers: Brian, Leslie and Dennis. Visitation: Will be from 1 – 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Service: 3:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery, in Mayville, ND.
