D. Lorraine Torgeson, 85, was called by her Lord and Savior to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 27th, just 3 1/2 hours short of the anniversary of her husband's death. Lorraine passed away peacefully surrounded by her four children at her home in Mayville, under the care of Hospice. Lorraine was born March 29, 1929 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of William and Marie (Dumonte) Driscoll. She grew up in East Grand Forks, MN and attended Sacred Heart School. She married Wendell Torgeson on June 12, 1948 in Crookston, MN. During their 60 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children. Although she worked outside the home periodically, her greatest passion was raising her family. Holiday cooking and baking was specially prepared with family favorites in mind. She also loved gardening and her claim to fame was her red geraniums. Lorraine was a long-time active member of Aurdal Lutheran Church of Portland. She is survived by daughter Patty & Kent Gronlie, Northwood; son Rick & Renee Torgeson, Mayville; daughter Diane & Paul Bakkum, Bismarck and daughter Sandy and Tom Slaughter, Grand Forks. Grandchildren: Dan and Tim Gronlie and Wendi Wilmes; David and Hunter Torgeson; Jenny Neumann, Matt and Mark Bakkum; Mindy Blackmore and Sadie Olson; along with 13 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Jack Driscoll, Pat Driscoll, Mary Hayes, Dick Edvall, Wayne Edvall, and Linda Ford. Special sisters-in-law: Vernis and Karter Krogh and Kathy Rodlund along with several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Wendell, granddaughter Katie Bakkum, her parents and brothers Tom, Bill and Mike; a brother-in-law Ron Rodlund. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7:00 PM with a 7 PM Public Prayer Service on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Aurdal Lutheran Church in Portland, ND. Burial: Will be at Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
