Joanne Buhr, 73, of Hunter, ND, passed away in her home, on September 14, 2008, under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Joanne Marie Fletcher was born on March 16, 1935 to Glenn and Agnes (Benzmiller) Fletcher on the farm at Galesburg, ND. She graduated from Erie, ND in 1953. She then attended Valley City College where she got her teaching degree. She taught in the one-room school house in Galesburg for one year. Joanne married Ronald Buhr on June 22, 1955 at St. James Catholic Church in Page, ND. They lived in Fargo until moving to Hunter in 1963. Joanne worked as a teachers aid in the Hunter school until 1971 when she and Ron purchased the Bronze Hut in Hunter. She operated the café until 1988. Joanne then did housekeeping until she retired. Joanne’s favorite pastime was playing on her computer, going to the lake, and having her friends and family around. She is survived by her daughters, Patty Buhr and Susan Lantz, both of Fargo; sons, Terry and Corrie, both of Fargo; grandchildren, Stacy, Brad, Janet, Wendy, Rochelle, Leann, Jennifer, Trista, Josh, Melanie and Mindy; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Darrell) Horkey of Westbrook, MN, Cecelia (Bert) Cowling of Machesney Park, IL, and Betty (Denny) Buczynski of Bemidji, MN; sisters-in-law Della Fletcher and Bev Fletcher, both of Machesney Park, IL; and brother-in-law, Bob Danson of North Branch, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Ron on July 12, 2008, son Steven, daughter, Maryann, her parents, brothers, Bernard and John, and sisters, Ellen and Diane. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hunter. Visitation: 5-7:30 PM on Wednesday with a public prayer service at 7:30 PM, and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service, all at the church. Burial: Hunter Cemetery.
