Lisa Ann Knudson, 54, of Portland, ND, died unexpectedly doing what she loved, riding her bike near her home on Friday, August 15, 2014. Lisa was born December 8, 1959 to William and Betty Karaim in Cando, ND. Lisa graduated from May-Port High School in 1978. After attending college in Kansas and Southern California, Lisa returned to ND to marry the love of her life, Ordean Knudson, on March 6, 1984. Lisa graduated from Moorhead State University in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in legal assistant/paralegal studies. After graduation, Lisa began work as a certified paralegal at Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson in Grand Forks, where she worked until her passing. Lisa was an accomplished triathlon athlete for over twenty years. She won numerous medals in Ironman competitions, marathons and triathlons around the U.S. and Canada. Lisa loved the outdoors, and was an avid camper, skier, swimmer, and bicyclist. She is survived by her husband Ordean Knudson of Portland; her mother Betty Karaim of Mayville; three brothers, Reed Karaim (Aurelie) of Tucson, AZ, Ryan Karaim (Laura) of Kansas City, MO, Lee Karaim (Ann) of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters, Lynn Rosenberry (Rob), of Los Olivos, CA, Rachel Payne (Jeff) of Mayville, ND, Lara Brown (J.D.) of Juneau, AK, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, William Karaim, and infant twin sisters, Kim and Karen. Visitation: Will be 5 – 7 PM with a 7:00 PM Public Prayer Service on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 1:30 PM Friday, August 22, 2014 at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Will be at the Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
