Faye Peterson, 67, of Mayville, ND, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Faye Hovland was born on June 19, 1947, in Northwood, ND to Ray and Solveig (Braaten) Hovland. She was confirmed at the Mayville Lutheran Church and graduated from the Mayville High School. Faye attended the University of North Dakota and graduated with a double major in Library Science and Elementary Education. She worked in the East Grand Forks school system as a teacher and librarian. On August 18, 1968 she married Richard Peterson at the Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville. Faye was a resident of the Luther Memorial Home for 23 years. She was very appreciative of the staff that became her “LMH Family” and would say, “This is a good place to be.” She had many friends. Faye always had a kind word and a smile on her face. She had a strong faith and was a volunteer on the Caring Ministry Team and was a greeter at church. Faye also served on the LMH Resident Council and Food Committee. Faye enjoyed many things; like the color pink, reading, watching television and birds, going outdoors, flowers, playing skipo or solitaire, listening to music, attending musical activities and church services. She was very proud of her daughter, Kim and her grandchildren, Georgia “Peach” Henn and Gary Rockwood III. She is survived by her husband: Richard of North Aurora, IL; daughter: Kimberly (Gary) Rockwood of West Chicago, IL; two grandchildren: Georgia and Gary; an aunt: Eileen Amb; an uncle: Parnell (Elsie) Hovland and numerous cousins. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Lori Ann; and a brother: Richard “Dicky” Hovland. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel in Mayville. Burial will be at the Mayville City Cemetery.
