Joyce Marie Flickinger

Joyce Marie Flickinger, 81, of Arthur, ND, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND. Joyce was born on November 18, 1932 to Ernest and Myrtle (Thompson) Erickson of Page, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page. She attended country school and graduated from Page High School. On September 4, 1949, she married Malcolm George Flickinger at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Page. After their marriage, the couple resided in Page. The couple had seven children. In the mid 1960’s, the family moved to Carver, MN, and purchased a farm. Joyce worked various jobs throughout her life, including driving a school bus and being a cashier. After her husband died, Joyce moved back to Page in 2002 from Chaska, MN and in early 2013, she moved into the Arthur Good Samaritan Center in Arthur, ND. Joyce touched many lives and had many friends. She enjoyed playing cards with her brothers and sisters. She liked to bake and was well known for her banana bread. Joyce also enjoyed bowling and bingo. Joyce is survived by her six children: Marsha (Bob) Pearson of Prior Lake, MN, Nicolette (Daniel) Henkel of New Prague, MN, Amy Pink of Grand Junction, CO, Faye Gansen, Tammy Diethelm and Daniel Flickinger all of Chaska, MN; 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by five siblings: Ole Erickson, Vivian Kent, MaryAnn (Larry) Hammer all of Page, ND, John (Winifred) Erickson of Frenchtown, MT and Karen Knudsvig of Buxton, ND. She is preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm in 1998; son, Michael; granddaughter, Jennifer; grandson, Troy; two brothers, Wayne and Lawrence Erickson; and two sons-in-law, Gary Diethelm and Danny Burns. Funeral Service: Will be held in Chaska MN. Burial: Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Chaska, MNA memorial service will be held at the Good Samaritan Center in Arthur, ND on Monday, April 28 at 10:30 AM.
