Ardis Beverly (Anderson) Halvorson, Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND formerly Galesburg, ND died Thursday March 20 at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo. Ardis was born October 2, 1927 near Wild Rose, ND to Orren and Ella (Kroke) Anderson. The family moved to a farm near Kloten, ND where she graduated high school. With a need for teachers during WWII, Ardis left Mayville State College early to teach in one room schools near Michigan, ND in Melrose Township and also in Field Township near Kloten, ND. Ardis was united in marriage to Loren Ellsworth Halvorson on July 2, 1950 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, rural Kloten. They lived in Starkweather and Hunter, ND before settling in Galesburg. Ardis was an involved partner with Loren in farming and served as Galesburg City Auditor for many years. She was actively involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 210 as a life member. Ardis enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting and other various events. Ardis is preceded in death by her husband, Loren on March 22, 2010, son-in-law Paul Moen, parents and brothers Orville, Donald and Eldo. She is survived by son Rickie (Mary) Halvorson, Galesburg, daughters Kaye (Danny) Matson, Hawley, MN and Jan Moen, Fargo, sister Audrey Hochgraber, Fargo, grandchildren Justin, Ashley and Jenna Halvorson, Judd Matson, Andrea (Darby) Plath and Alissa Matson, Troy (Rachel) Moen, Hannah (Tim) Leier and Maggie Moen, great grand daughter Lauren Plath, step-great-grand son Braydin and two “to be born” great grand children to Hannah and Tim Leier in September and Andrea and Darby Plath in October. Thank you to the staff of Edgewood Vista and the Sanford Palliative Care Unit for the compassionate care mom received. Memorials are preferred to Sanford Palliative Care Unit. Visitation: Will be 6 – 8 PM with a 8 PM Public Prayer Service on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
