Allan Martin

Allan Dahl Martin, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on March 10, 2014 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Allan was born to Arthur and Maxine (Dahl) Martin on August 12, 1941 in Hunter, ND.  He attended Clifford High School and enlisted in the Navy after graduating in 1959.  While in the Navy he served in the engine room on the U.S.S. Little Rock.  During one tour he was stationed directly off the coast of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.   After being discharged from the Navy, Allan moved back to Clifford to attend Mayville State University and farm with his father.  It was while he was home he met the love of his life, Maxine Dick.  They married June 24, 1966 and spent the rest of their lives in the Clifford community.   Allan loved many things.  He enjoyed playing cards with friends, fishing and working on his classic cars with his son.  He farmed near Clifford, ND until he retired.  Allan enjoyed being with his family and friends.  He served on the Clifford Elevator Board, being elected President several different times. He also was on the Norman Township Board, Clifco Energy Board and was Treasurer of the Norman Cemetery Board, all for many years.   Allan is survived by two sons, Corwyn (Melinda) Martin of Clifford, ND, and Blair (Sarah) Martin of Moorhead, MN, daughter Allissa (Carl) Bratager of Galesburg, ND. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Zoe Martin.  Allan leaves his two sisters, Vicki Moen, Grand Forks, ND, Penelope Martin, Brooklyn Park, MN and brothers, Larry (Linda) Martin, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Nathan (Margaret) Martin, San Diego, CA.  He is preceded in death by his wife Maxine and both of his parents. Visitation: Will be 5–7 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Service on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Baker Funeral Home Chapel and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Norman Lutheran Church in Clifford, ND. Burial: Clifford Cemetery, Clifford, ND.
