Carl Ambroson

Carl Ambroson, 87, of Hatton, ND formerly of Mayville, ND, passed away on February 15, 2014, at Sanford Hospital in Mayville. Carl was born on February 6, 1927, at home in Clifford, North Dakota, to parents Ole and Helga (Brovold) Ambroson. On June 20, 1948, he married Ruth Brenden at Bruflat Church in Portland, North Dakota. Early on, Carl farmed near Portland, North Dakota. In 1962 he and his family moved to Mayville, North Dakota, and Carl was subsequently employed at Mayville State University. He worked at the college for 27 years and retired in 1990 as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Carl was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid golfer, woodworker and loved playing keyboard. He also enjoyed telling stories and Norwegian jokes. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. Carl was a long time member of the Mayville Lutheran Church, a member of the local Masonic Lodge, and a past volunteer for the Mayville Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Nancy (Bill) Arneson of Portage, Michigan, Charlotte Lee, Mayville, and Marguerite (David) Kent, Hatton; son Harold (Beckie) Ambroson, Elk Grove Village, Il; grandchildren, Kari (Bryan) Mularcik, Jessica (Jeremy) Wendt, Robert (Jessica) Lee, Tamara (Nathan) Van Wechel, Jason (Meredith), Jill and C.J. Ambroson, Natalie (Leonard) Karge, Leah and Madalyn Kent; and 12 great-grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by his 14 brothers and sisters and son-in-law Ralph Lee. Memorials are preferred to Mayville Lutheran Church, Luther Memorial Home, Hatton Prairie Village, or Sanford Mayville Hospital. Visitation: 5-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Baker Funeral Home in Mayville. Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Mayville Lutheran Church, Mayville. Burial: Mayville City Cemetery
