Opal Weigelt, 95, passed away at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, North Dakota on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Opal Marie Keller was born March 14, 1918 to Charles and Margaret (Carlson) Keller in Grand Forks, ND. Opal attended school in Grand Forks, graduating in 1936 from Central High School and went on to graduate from Aakers Business College. She married George Weigelt June 24, 1942 in Grand Forks and they lived in Seattle, WA where Opal sold War Bonds in the shipyards during World War II. They moved back to Grand Forks and raised their daughters. George passed away on December 9, 1971. Opal worked for Strinden Hardware Store in housewares for over twenty years. She went on to work at Turk’s Corner for several years. She moved to Eden Prairie, MN in 1989 and came to Hatton Prairie Village in October 2012 where she enjoyed embroidery, reading, bingo, rummy and of course coffee hour. Opal is survived by daughters: Nancy (Frank) Mitzel of Minto, ND and Margaret (Gary) Rosen of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren: Chris Mitzel, Justin Mitzel, Meggi Mitzel, Paul Rosen (Jennifer Crist) and David (Terri) Rosen; two great-grandchildren: Grayson Rosen and Cecilia Rosen. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters: Hazel Keller, Irene Johnson and Louise Martin; brothers: Earl (Butch) Keller and Harold Keller. Visitation: Will be on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 one hour prior to the service at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton. Memorial Service: 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton ND. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
