Betty Lou Thoreson

Betty Lou Thoreson, 89, of Moorhead, MN formerly of Mayville, ND died Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND. Betty Lou was born on September 27, 1924 in Audubon, MN the daughter of Olaf and Irene Weum. She was baptized in Audubon and attended school there. After her schooling, Betty moved to Moorhead. On March 1, 1947, she married Howard Thoreson in Moorhead. The couple made their home in Mayville, where they managed the Luxury Ice Cream Store. Later, Betty worked in the food service department at the Luther Memorial Home and retired after 19 years as a kitchen supervisor. Betty and Howard enjoyed many summers of camping and fishing at Gull Lake. She had a love of gardening, flowers, crocheting and other crafts. Betty is survived by her one daughter, Wanda Parker of Ontario, CA; five sons, Wayne (Marijo) of Forrest Lake, MN, Terry (Harriet) of Buxton, ND, Dean (Denise) of Seward, NE, Lynne of Owatonna, MN and Ronald (Kathy) of Moorhead, MN; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Teddy Patterson of Lockwood, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter, Paulette Patterson; granddaughter, Tracy Patterson; grandson, Troy Patterson and sister, Cleone Newton. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Church. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
