Edith A. Gudim, 82, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Mayville, ND died Friday, October 11, 2013 at Sanford Health Center in Fargo. Edith Alethea Sorem was born October 19, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Einar and Anna (Fossum) Sorem. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and Augsburg College in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to Milo D. Gudim September 6, 1952 in Minneapolis. They served as missionaries to Madagascar from 1954 to 1967. They ministered in parishes in Rollag, MN, Reynolds, ND and Argyle, MN before retiring in Mayville, ND. Milo passed away in 1992. Edith worked as a Registered Nurse in Mayville for many years. She moved to Fargo in August of 2013. Survivors include her children: Duane (Judy) Gudim, Rockford, MN; Cheryl (Leif) Aakre, Stephen, MN; Gloria (Mike) Weigel, Louisville, KY; Kenneth Gudim, Inver Grove Heights, MN; Dawn (Dennis) Haugen, Plattville, AL; Dwight (Tammy) Gudim, Andover, MN; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Marvin Sorem, Bloomington, MN and sister, Arlene (Willard) Weikle, Minneapolis, MN. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, one grandson, one daughter-in-law and two sisters. Visitation: 6-8 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 with a prayer service at 8:00 PM at Valley Free Lutheran Church in Portland, ND and will resume one hour prior to the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. Burial: Will be at 5:00 PM Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Forks, ND.
