Jerome Christianson

Jerome Christianson, 92, of Mayville, ND, died Monday, February 4, 2008, at Union Hospital in Mayville. Jerome was born October 19, 1915 in Steele County, ND, to Herman and Clara (Rud) Christianson. He lived in the Sharon, ND area until 1944 when he and his family moved to Mayville. His twin brother, Jeroy, died in the line of duty in 1944. In 1961, Jerome married Lorraine Nelson in Moorhead, MN. Jerome farmed for all of his life, with his brother Elmer. He worked the in winter months for Red River Valley Telephone Company and also for the Mayville Water Plant, and Crane Lumber. After his retirement Jerome worked for Wayne Garrett on the farm. In 2006, Jerome entered the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Jerome was a member of the Mayville Lutheran Church, and the Eagles Club. He was an honorary fireman for 46 years. Jerome loved his John Deere machinery and would mow lawns and snowplow yards in Mayville. People enjoyed seeing him around town on his John Deere tractor. He enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Gene) Royer of Gilson, IL, and Linda Johnson of Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Jeff (Kristi) Johnson of Fargo, Dawn (Bernie) Frieden of Fairfax, IA, and Jodi Philips and family of Benton, LA; eight great-grandchildren, Katie, Lacie, Halle and Jacob of Fargo, Logan of IA, Kelsey, Brooke and Abby of LA; two brothers, Earl (Joyce) Christianson of Portland, ND, and Kenny Christianson of Mayville; three sisters, Hazel (Iddo) Nygaard of Hatton, ND, Ruth (Norman) Lindaas of WA, and Myrtle Fishbien of CA; special friends, Beverly and Dale Holt of Mayville, and their daughters, Kim, Michelle, Stacy, and Jill; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine in 2004; his parents; siblings, Elmer, Leonard, Axel, and his twin brother Jeroy. FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
