Elsie Tate, 102, of Apache Junction, AZ died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, AZ. She was born on August 13, 1910 near Landenburg, Saskatchewan, Canada the third of five children born to Edward and Theresa (Krueger) Hausmann. The family moved to the Hillsboro, ND area when she was an infant. Elsie grew up and attended school there. Elsie met Elmer Tate at a Fireman’s Ball in Hillsboro and on October 7, 1934 they were married. Elmer and Elsie farmed near Blanchard, ND and in 1946 they purchased a farm near Hope, ND. In 1973 they retired from farming, and resided part time in Arizona and North Dakota. Elsie resided full time in Arizona since 1993. Elsie was active in church and read her bible daily. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and was an avid reader. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her kindness, gentleness and caring will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by three children: Elmer Jr. (Eyvonn) Tate of Rochester, MN, Wallace (Jane) Tate of Apache Junction, AZ and Betty (Dennis) Steele of Bismarck, ND; five grandchildren: Marianne (Gus) Ortiz, David Tate, Donald (Kim) Tate, Mark (Ann) Steele and Amy (Scot) Leingang; eight great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Isaac and Isaiah Tate, Briley, Sydney and Devey Steele, Kaden and Jace Leingang. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer on January 18, 1993; her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation: Will be on Saturday, December 15, 2012 one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hope, ND. Burial: Immanuel Cemetery, rural Hillsboro, ND.
