In loving memory of Peder William Lucas, 81, of Mayville, ND, who passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Peder was born in Williston, ND on May 29, 1926 to Ladd and Johannah (Midstokke) Lucas. In 1937 Peder left North Dakota with his mother to join other family members in Los Angeles, CA where he completed his education. Peder married Frances Wamstad of Sharon, ND in 1950. She passed away in 1972. Peder worked in Escrow for 30 years in Los Angeles and San Diego. He married Jackie Swaim of San Diego in 1975. Peder and Jackie loved to travel and visit many historical places, including all the forts in North Dakota. During his travels Peder enjoyed sampling the local fare and discovering the best there was to offer. His hobbies included reading, golf, bowling, cards (Liverpool, Cribbage, Pinochle, and more), but mostly delighted in teaching his grandkids to play an honest game. Peder bowled for the Elks Scratch League for 20 years and coached the Elks Junior Bowling League. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Lucas of Mayville, ND; daughter, Jackie Angulo of Redding, CA; son, Mitchell Lucas of Colchester, CT; step-son, Donald Shingledecker of Lakeside, CA; step-daughter, Jennifer Lundgren of Reynoldsburg, OH; three grandsons; six granddaughters; and one great granddaughter. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Mayville Lutheran Church in Mayville, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
