Arba Ercell Holm, 95, of Hope, ND, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Union Hospital in Mayville, ND. He was born April 11, 1912, in Hugo Township, rural Hope, the son of Millard Sr. and Bertha (Goeble) Holm. Ercell attended country school and then worked on the family farm. Ercell started working for Kainz Construction and later continued as a general contractor. In September of 1931, he married Leone Baker in Hope, North Dakota. He built many barns and houses throughout North Dakota and the Red River Valley, but always resided in Hope. From a young age, he enjoyed the out of doors. For many years, Ercell ran a trap line and loved to hunt many things including; elk, mule and whitetail deer, moose, fox, duck and one of his favorite, pheasant. Ercell is survived by his son, Gerald Holm of Hope; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Leone in 1971; one infant daughter; one son, Arby in 1992; one grandson, James in 1987; one sister, Adelia Peterson; two brothers, Millard Holm Jr. and Clarence Holm. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 1:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. VISITATION: One hour prior to the service at the church. BURIAL: Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND, in the spring.
