Ione Freeland

Ione Freeland, 67, of West Fargo, ND, formerly of Cummings, ND, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Ione was born in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Helga (Hakanson) Hogness. She grew up in DeLamere, ND and graduated from Wyndmere High School. On June 5, 1960, Ione married Keith Freeland, in DeLamere. Together they had six children. They lived on the farm in Cummings for 45 years. In 2005, they moved to West Fargo. Ione loved the Lord, her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, extended family, and friends. Her family was her life and her identity. She gave her life to her family. She was very active in her church; Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Mayville, ND. She was in women’s ministries, a Deaconess, a Sunday school teacher, and helped with Awana. She also did volunteer work at various places. Ione had a very giving spirit. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Keith of West Fargo; two daughters, Debra (Wayne) Sturman of New York, NY and Denise (Ken) Grinde of Portland; four sons, Bradley of Minneapolis, Brent (Bonnie) of Mayville, Bruce (Carrie) of Minneapolis, and Bryan of Minneapolis; thirteen grandchildren; mother, Helga of Milnor; two sisters, Mary (Dan) Sinner of West Fargo and Avis (Richard) Bordner of Fenton, MO; five brothers, Orvin (Marlene), Raymond (Carol), all of Milnor, James (Shirley) of Fargo, Jerome of Minneapolis, and Tom (Wanda) of Milnor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members. She was preceded in death by her brother Paul, and her father Thomas. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 AM Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Mayville, ND. VISITATION: Friday, December 14, 2007 from 4-7PM with a prayer service from 5:30 -6:15, and one hour prior to the funeral service, all at the church. BURIAL: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
