Sigurd “Sig” Oscar Lindgren, 97, formerly of Hillsboro, ND died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Sig was born August 8, 1915 to Oscar and Signe (Jonson) Lindgren in Hope, ND. He attended rural school in Hope. Sig was married to Alice Aletta Haugan on July 27, 1940 in Las Vegas, NV. Sig and Alice lived in Hillsboro for 27 years where Sig owned Lindgren Buick. They moved to Fargo, ND in 1969 where Sig worked at several car dealerships. Sig was an avid owner, sponsor and fan of sprint car racing. In 1980 he was inducted into the ND Hall of Fame of Racing at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles and Elks Club in Fargo. He enjoyed going to the races and visiting with friends and family. Sig is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice, Luther Memorial Home, Mayville; 2 sons, Jerry (Peggy) Lindgren of St. Paul, MN and Ron Lindgren of Moorhead, MN; 2 daughters, Laurie (Norm) Evenson of Buxton, ND and Linda (Ron) Brennan of Ventura, CA; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vivian Thompson and Ruth Barrett of CA; and 2 sisters-in-law, Bertha Lindgren and Jean Lindgren of Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Anna (Erickson) Lindgren; sisters, Vi Warner and Helen Works; brothers, Oscar “Swede”, Don, and Halger Lindgren. Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home Chapel, 750 Main St East, Mayville, ND. Burial: East Marsh River Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN, at a later date.
