Gayle L. Fischer, 62, formerly from Aurora Colorado, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 in her home in Mayville, where she had resided for the past few months. Gayle Lorraine Engebretson was born August 7, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN, to Allan and Lucille (Schroeder) Engebretson. She was baptized and confirmed in First English Lutheran Church of Fairmount, ND. She was raised on a farm in Fairmount and graduated from Fairmount High School in 1967. She attended State School of Science in Wahpeton, and moved to Colorado at the age of 19. Over the years, Gayle worked as an accountant for Atlas and North American Van Lines, as an office manager for Ostermann Sausage Company, an accounting manager for Prudential Legend Realty, and a senior accountant for Air Ambulance Specialists, all in the Denver area. Gayle married Rudolph Fischer in 1985. They had two sons, Jonathan and Nicholas. Gayle was a loving mother to her two boys, and will be remembered for her sense of humor, energetic spirit, enthusiasm and dedication to her family and friends. She is survived by her sons: Jonathan and Nicholas, both of Denver; mother: Lucille Engebretson of Mayville; sister: Alana (Ray) Gerszewski of Mayville; brother: Randy (Joan) Engebretson of Fargo and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Allan Engebretson and nephew: Mark Engebretson. Memorial services will be planned at a later date.
