Wendell “Wendy” Capouch, 83, of Mayville, ND died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville. Wendell Charles Capouch was born near Park River, North Dakota on September 23, 1928 to James and Alvina Capouch. Wendy attended rural schools near Park River and Grafton. Wendy was drafted into the Army in 1951. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. Wendy married Jean Wippler on December 29, 1953. They moved to Wahpeton where Wendy attended North Dakota School of Science. The couple moved to Mayville, where he worked as an automobile mechanic at Mayville Motors for 37 years. Wendy was a lifetime member of the Portland Legion and the Mayville Fire Department. He is survived by his wife Jean of Mayville, North Dakota; four children, Sue Reiser of Turtle Lake, North Dakota, Tom (Nancy) Capouch of Portland, North Dakota, Patty (Shawn) Ogburn of Mayville, and Peggy (Nathan) Martin of Poway, California; thirteen grandchildren, Sally Hallingstad, Peter Hallingstad, Sarah Hallingstad, Matthew Reiser, Ryan Capouch, Ross Capouch, Jessica Ogburn, Katelyn Ogburn, Daniel Ogburn, Benjamin Ogburn, Elizabeth Martin, Robert Martin, Jonathan Martin, and one great grandchild, Micha Hallingstad and his sister Doris (James) Northagen. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred and Verna; and brother, Eugene. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville, ND. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, and will resume one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
