Chester R. Olson

Chester R. Olson, 86, of Fargo, ND formerly of Greenfield Township, ND, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND. Chester was born on May 7, 1921, in Greenfield Township, Traill County, ND, the son of Harry and Annie (Kyllo) Olson. He grew up and attended school in Greenfield Township. He entered the US Army in 1942 and served in the European Theater during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1945. He then returned to Greenfield Township where he farmed with his brothers. Chester stayed on the farm up until the last few years when he moved to Fargo. Chester was a lifetime member of Stordahl Lutheran Church, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion posts in both Galesburg and Hillsboro. He was also a member of the Galesburg Elevator Board. Chester loved to visit and spend time with his friends and family. He is survived by two sisters Eleanor (Julius) Amb, Portland, ND, and Viola Vigen, Jamestown, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Arnold, Sigvard, Vernon, and infant brother Glen; and one sister Gladys. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Stordahl Lutheran Church, rural Galesburg, ND. VISITATION: Will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.
