Donald Matthew von Ruden, 82, of Mayville, ND, passed away on December 29, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Mayville. He was born to Victor “Jack” and Othilia (Ethan) von Ruden on December 13, 1929 at their family farm, rural Mayville. Don attended Morgan #4 rural school and graduated from Mayville High School in 1948. Don married Delores Rohman on June 20, 1950 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hillsboro, ND. Along with farming, Don was active as an Emergency Medical Technician first responder, West Traill Ambulance, Portland Junction Grain Elevator Board, Morgan Township Board, Traill County Water Resource Board, Knights of Columbus District Deputy, van driver for Luther Memorial Home, Farm Bureau officer and trustee for Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Mayville. They later retired and moved into Mayville. Don and Dee loved the farm life and raised livestock, wheat, barley, flax, oats, corn and also six daughters. Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delores of Mayville; his favorite daughters: Kathy (Tom) Smith of St. Cloud, MN, Linda (Craig) Dokken of Chandler, AZ, Judy (Donald) Kerlin of Rochester, MN, Nancy (Tom) Capouch of Portland, ND, Denise (Tony) Corbit of Roseau, MN and Angie (Jeff) Granrud of Howard Lake, MN; eleven grandchildren: Danielle Smith, Michael Smith, Caleb Dokken, Cathy Dokken, Scott Kerlin, Melissa Kerlin, Beth Kerlin, Ryan Capouch, Ross Capouch, Nick Corbit and Nathan Corbit; one great-grandchild: Rylee Dokken; one sister: Margaret (Ted) Meier of Great Falls, MT and one brother: Bernard (Marsha) von Ruden of Altoona, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles von Ruden. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville, ND. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, and will resume one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial: Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, ND.
