F.S. “Scott” Weiler, 85, Mayville ND entered eternal rest December 10, 2011 while in the compassionate care by the staff of the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Scott was born January 14, 1926 in Lisbon, ND the son of Karl and Lillian (Gereau) Weiler. He worked in the family's dray line business and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1944. Scott served in the US Navy toward the end of WW II. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Kopach at St. Mary's Cathedral in Fargo, October 8, 1949. Together they had three sons, Scott, James, and Ross. Shortly after their marriage Scott and Lorraine moved to Illinois where he was trained at the Elgin Watch Company and became licensed as an accredited watchmaker. Scott and Lorraine lived in Fargo-Moorhead, Grafton, Bemidji, Brawlely, CA, Prescott, Az and Mayville. Scott and Lorraine owned and operated Weiler's Jewelry in Mayville until they retired in 1991. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the Mayville Portland Horseshoe Club. Scott enjoyed throwing horseshoes, telling jokes, fishing and playing pinochle. Scott will be remembered for his engraving, jewelry making, pop can airplanes and other artsy crafty projects. It seemed he could make anything from nothing; including nice furniture from discarded wood. He liked military airplanes, detail work and record keeping. Scott is survived by his sons Scott (Julie) Weiler, Canadian Lakes, MI; James Weiler, Shreveport, LA; and Ross (Carol) Weiler, Grand Forks; granddaughters Kim (Steve) McNabb, Pittsburgh, PA; and Christa Weiler, Fargo; sister Delores “Tudy” (Gary) Dick, San Antonio, TX; and brother Don Weiler, Saco, ME. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two sisters, and ten brothers. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Mayville, ND, with Father Duaine Cote as celebrant. Visitation: Will be from 5–7 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with a rosary and vigil to be held at 7 p.m. Burial: 3:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Lisbon, ND.
