Charles M. Westbrook, 61, of Galesburg, ND, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND. He was born on July 4, 1950 the son of J.W. and Katie (Braase) Westbrook in Independence, LA. Charles attended school in Independence and high school in Amite, LA. Charles worked for a number of years at Sanderson Farms in Hammond, LA and later at Roberts Processing Plant in Roberts, LA. In the mid 1990’s he changed professions and started working in road construction as an asphalt layer. He worked in various states including Louisiana, Florida and Ohio. In September of 1991 he met Lisa Owens and later married on April 10, 1999 in Baker, LA. In 2005 Charles retired for health reasons. The couple moved to Galesburg, ND, in July of 2010 to be near their children. He was known as a very dedicated and hard worker throughout his life. He also enjoyed sports of all kinds, traveling and his dog Rosie. Charles is survived by his wife, Lisa of Galesburg; two daughters, LaDonna Satterfield of Finley, ND and Kimberly (Joe) Cantore of Galesburg; one son, Bryant Owens of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Lane Satterfield, Joey Cantore, Tre’ Maguire, Christian Cantore, Kaylie Maguire and Allisyn Owens. He is also survived by three sisters, Joyce Graves of Amite, LA, Ruthie Zaffuto of Hammond, LA and Ruby “Penny” Burch of Hammond; one brother, James Westbrook of AR and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Katie Westbrook. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation from 11 AM to 1 PM.
