Marjorie Aasen, 90, of Mayville, ND died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville where she had resided since 2006. Marjorie Glendora Braaten was born on October 12, 1921 near Hatton, ND to Gehard and Sophia (Huus) Braaten. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatton. She attended country school and graduated from Hatton High School in 1940. On October 17, 1940 Marjorie and Gilman “Gilly” Aasen were married in Crookston, MN. Together they raised 7 daughters in Mayville. She enjoyed being a homemaker, hand embroidery, gardening and especially taking care of her girls. Marjorie is survived by her 7 daughters, Rose (Glenn) Thoreson, Joan (Michael) Osland all of Mayville, Dorothy (Jeff) Sheldon of Regent, ND, Sharon (James) Berthiaume of Bloomington, MN, Judy (Henry) Noel of Hallock, MN, Debra Lenzen of Menagha, MN and Karen (Scott) Kost of Casselton, ND; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Solveig Hovland of Mayville, and Eileen Amb of Portland, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gilman; son-in-law Jon Lenzen; and 2 grandchildren. Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Friday, November 4, 2011 at First American Lutheran Church, Mayville, ND. Visitation: 5-7 PM Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Baker Funeral Home and will resume one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church. Burial: Mayville City Cemetery
